What is full front embroidery?
Full front embroidery is the bold cousin of left chest — instead of a 3.5-inch logo over the heart, the design sweeps the entire front panel of the garment. Typical dimensions are 10 to 11 inches wide and up to 11 inches tall, sized to land between the collar and the bottom hem without crossing seams. Full front is the standard for team jerseys (think baseball/softball wordmarks), event hoodies (concert merch, charity walks, family reunions), spirit wear (school mascots, athletic department logos), and biker/club back patches that wrap onto the front. The placement demands a larger hoop, a tougher stabilizer to support 30,000-plus stitches, and a longer machine run time — a full-front design typically takes 18-25 minutes per garment to sew versus 3-4 minutes for a left chest. That is why turnaround is a few days longer than a left-chest order.
Best garments for full front embroidery
Full front works best on garments with a clean, flat front panel: heavyweight cotton tees (Gildan 5000, Bella+Canvas 3001, Comfort Colors 1717), pullover hoodies (Independent Trading, Champion Reverse Weave, Gildan 18500), crewneck sweatshirts, baseball jerseys, and fleece quarter-zips. Avoid full-front embroidery on lightweight performance tees (the heavy stitch load can pucker thin polyester) and on shirts with front pockets or button plackets that interrupt the design area. Hoodies need to be embroidered before the hood and pocket assembly is finalized, or with extra care around the pouch pocket — flag this with us at order time.
How to prepare artwork for full front embroidery
For a 10-11 inch design, your artwork needs to be true vector (Adobe Illustrator AI or EPS) or a very high-resolution raster (600+ DPI at the final print size). Small text inside the design (player numbers, stitched-in mottoes) should be at least 1/4 inch tall in the final size to stitch cleanly. Stitch count adds up fast at this scale — a logo that runs 8,000 stitches at left-chest size can easily exceed 25,000 stitches when blown up to full front. Two practical implications: (1) consider open lettering or outlined fills instead of solid fills to keep stitch count down, and (2) if your design has photo-realistic shading, plan to simplify it during digitizing. We will quote any overage above the 30,000-stitch threshold before we run the job.

Full Front Embroidery pricing details
Base price is $35 per garment for full-front embroidery up to 30,000 stitches. Each additional 1,000 stitches above that runs $0.40. Digitizing is the standard $125 one-time fee. Because of the longer machine run time, full-front jobs do not qualify for our standard volume break tiers until 48 pieces (versus 24 for left chest). Rush turnaround on full-front is available but adds 25% to the per-piece rate.
