Polo Shirt Embroidery - Corporate Uniforms & Teams

Embroidered polos are the cornerstone of any uniform program. Port Authority, Nike, Sport-Tek, Adidas, OGIO. Real machine embroidery, live preview, no minimums. Shipped from Huntington, NY.

Why Polos Are Perfect for Embroidery

Polo shirts are made from pique knit - a fabric structure with raised textured cells that create natural stitch wells for thread to seat into. Combine that texture with the woven-style weight most pique polos carry, and you get a substrate that holds embroidery better than almost any other garment category. A well-digitized left chest on a Port Authority K500 will look sharp until the polo itself wears out.

The other half of the story is brand signaling. A stitched chest logo on a polo communicates intentional brand investment in a way that no printed decoration can match. That is why embroidery is the default decoration method for every category of polo-wearing business - corporate, real estate, hospitality, healthcare, country club, automotive service. The polo is the uniform; embroidery makes it look like one on purpose.

For backing, we use tear-away on standard pique polos and switch to cut-away on any polo with significant spandex content (performance polos, stretch polos). Cut-away supports the stitching against the inherent stretch and prevents the design from distorting after the first wash.

Common Polo Placements

Left Chest (standard) - $10

The corporate default. Up to 3.5 inches wide, positioned roughly 6-7 inches down from the shoulder seam, centered over the heart. This is the placement 95% of polo programs use as their primary logo position.

Right Chest (name personalization) - $10

Reserved for the employee name in either script or block lettering. We standardize the name font across the order so the entire team matches visually.

Sleeve - $10 per sleeve

Common for secondary marks - a sponsor logo, a website, a division tag, or a sport-team year. Max width 3 inches. Both sleeves available.

Full Back - $45

Less common on polos than on jackets but still requested by sports teams and contractors. Max width 12 inches.

Best Polo Brands for Embroidery

Not every polo is built the same. After years running corporate uniform programs across Long Island, these are the brands that consistently deliver clean, durable embroidery results:

  • Port Authority K500 / K100. The most-ordered uniform polo in the United States. Mid-weight pique, broad color range, true-to-size fit. The default.
  • Nike Dri-FIT Micro Pique (363807). Performance polo for outdoor crews, real estate, and golf. Smooth swoosh-branded option.
  • Sport-Tek ST650. Lightweight micropique with moisture wicking. Slightly cheaper than Nike with similar performance.
  • OGIO Caliber 2.0 (OG101). Upscale corporate option with a slim, modern cut. Often chosen by financial and tech firms.
  • Adidas Ultimate365. Country-club and golf-tournament favorite. Premium feel, premium price.
  • Carhartt CT102108. Heavyweight ringspun pique for trades and crews who need the polo to survive jobsite conditions.

All available through our sister brand On The Island Apparel (OTIA) at wholesale pricing. You can also supply your own.

Care After Embroidery

Embroidery is the most washer-tolerant decoration method available, but a few habits will extend the life of the polo itself:

  • - Machine wash cold or warm, inside out, gentle cycle.
  • - Tumble dry low or hang dry.
  • - Cool iron on the reverse side. Never iron directly on the embroidery.
  • - Skip the bleach - it does nothing to the polyester thread but it accelerates fabric breakdown.
  • - Pull any stray jump threads with scissors, never pliers - tugging can pull a stitch out of registration.

Bulk Pricing & Volume Discounts

Per-piece embroidery pricing does not change between 1 and 50 polos - same rate per chest. Once you cross 50 matching pieces we open a bulk quote line, typically 10-20% off list. For ongoing uniform programs (think monthly reorders for a service company adding new hires) we set up a reorder account: file is stored, new staff are added by email, and reorders ship at our lowest tier with no setup fees. Polo Embroidery FAQ

What is the standard placement for an embroidered polo?+

Left chest is the universal corporate placement, sized roughly 3 to 3.5 inches wide and centered about 6-7 inches down from the shoulder seam. Right chest is reserved for personalization - employee name in script or block. Sleeve embroidery (often a secondary mark or sponsor) is the most common third placement.

How many polos do I need to order?+

No minimum. We will embroider one polo or a hundred at the same per-piece rate. The only quantity-based fee is digitizing, which is waived on orders over $150 - which most polo orders clear easily.

Which polo brands work best for embroidery?+

Port Authority K500 and K100, Nike Dri-FIT Micro Pique, Sport-Tek ST650, OGIO Caliber 2.0, and Adidas Ultimate365 are the workhorses. All have dense, smooth pique knits that hold stitches cleanly. We can source any of these through our sister brand On The Island Apparel (OTIA), or you can supply your own.

How do I care for an embroidered polo?+

Machine wash cold or warm, inside out, gentle cycle. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Cool iron on the reverse side - never directly on the embroidery. Skip the bleach. Done right, embroidery outlives the polo itself.

Can you add employee names to each polo?+

Yes. Right-chest name personalization is a single additional placement charge per piece. Send the list of names with the order - we set up the names file once and run each shirt with the correct name and consistent font.

Do you offer bulk discounts on polo orders?+

Orders of 50+ matching pieces are quoted with a bulk discount, typically 10-20% off list. For ongoing uniform programs we set up reorder accounts where the digitized file is stored and reorders ship at the lowest tier price. Contact us for a quote.
