Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment
EmbroideryLI is committed to making embroideryli.com usable by the widest possible audience, regardless of ability. Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project, and we treat it as a feature requirement on every release.
Features in Place
The following accessibility features are built into the site today:
- Semantic HTML - pages use proper heading hierarchy, landmark elements, and ARIA roles where they add meaning
- Keyboard navigation - all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) are reachable and operable with a keyboard
- Skip to main content link is available at the top of every page for screen reader and keyboard users
- Alt text on images - all non-decorative images have descriptive alt text; decorative images use empty alt attributes
- Color contrast - text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components)
- Focus indicators - visible focus rings on all interactive elements
- Form labels - every form input has an associated label, and validation errors are announced accessibly
- Responsive design - the site works at 320px viewport width and up to 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling
- Reduced motion - animations respect the user's prefers-reduced-motion preference
Known Limitations
We are transparent about the gaps we are aware of:
- Third-party widgets - some embedded tools (Square checkout, third-party chat) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We monitor vendor updates and switch providers when accessibility regresses
- Live embroidery preview - the visual preview tool is inherently visual; we are working on text descriptions of the rendered output for screen reader users
- Portfolio gallery - some older portfolio images may lack detailed alt text; we are auditing and updating
- PDFs and downloads - customer-facing PDFs (invoices, proofs) are generated from templates and may not be fully tagged for screen readers
If you encounter an accessibility barrier we have not listed here, please tell us - that report goes directly into our backlog.
How to Report an Accessibility Issue
We want to hear about it. The fastest ways to reach us:
Email: [email protected] (subject line: "Accessibility Issue")
Phone: (631) 458-3842
Mail: EmbroideryLI, 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington, NY 11743
Please describe the issue, the page URL, your browser and assistive technology (if applicable), and what you were trying to do. We confirm receipt within 2 business days and aim to resolve substantive issues within 30 days.
Continuous Improvement
We audit the site against WCAG 2.1 AA on every major release and run automated accessibility checks in our deployment pipeline. We also periodically engage outside testers, including users of screen readers and keyboard-only navigation, to validate fixes in real-world workflows. When we ship new features they are reviewed for accessibility before they go live - not after.
